The people of Maine have invested millions of dollars of their own money to ensure Maine has pristine drinking water. Every Mainer who has a septic system or pays taxes and fees for public water contributes to our clean water. It is a source of pride in which we can all share.
 
But giant corporations from out of state and even out of the country believe they can just come into Maine and take our water without fair compensation. In essence, they are trying to take our investment without giving a fair return.
 
It's time to put a stop to that. Our water is precious. We have invested in it and, at retail, a gallon of our water can cost more than a gallon of gasoline.
 
When water bottlers from across the land or across the ocean want to truck Maine water out of the state at a huge profit, they are going to have to pay Maine people a FAIR RETURN on their investment.
