Pat's Common Sense Education Plans Are Well Received
By Miranda Grossman, Reporter
Governor John Baldacci met face to face for the first time with Green candidate Pat LaMarche and Independent candidate Barbara Merrill. The 3 were at a symposium at the University of Maine in Orono organized by the Maine COMPACT for Higher Education.
Each candidate had a couple of minutes to say what they wanted about their run for governor and answered questions about education.
A report from COMPACT shows that Maine has the lowest percentage of adults with college degrees out of all the New England states. The goal of the symposium was to discuss a comprehensive educational plan to get more Mainers to go to college.
