Help Pat Win on November 7th

Will you join us? Hundreds of volunteers are working hard to help Pat win what some observers are calling a two-way race between LaMarche and Baldacci on November 7th. Here's how you can join in what could be a historic upset:

Here's how you can participate:
  • Vote Early
Go to your local polling place and vote (in Maine, allowed 21 days before the election if you will be unable to get to the polls on November 7th)
  • "Gimme Five" to Get Out the Vote
Send an email to five of your friends or family members, and then give them a call. Urge them to vote for Pat. Send them to the website for details. And then offer to help them get to the polls on or before November 7th. Be persistent!
  • Pat Mobile
Text the word "pat" to the number 30644. As a member of Pat's Immediate Response Team, you will receive the latest insider news and tips on how you can help Pat win. Don't just complain about the professional politicians. Help to elect someone you can trust!

Thank You for Voting

Last Wednesday night, for the first time in American political history, an instantaneous poll was taken after a televised debate using American Idol style voting techniques. Voters watched the televised debate on Maine Public Broadcasting and then voted via cell phone by texting the word "pat" to 30644. A ballot was sent that allowed voters to easily choose their favorite. Within minutes, over 100 people had voted. By 8:00 the next morning, 220 votes had been received. The totals were as follows:

LaMarche 120 votes, 54%
Baldacci 44 votes, 20%
Woodcock 28 votes, 13%
Merrill 16 votes, 7%
NaPier 12 votes, 6%
----------------------------
Total = 220 votes

Voters who do not have or use a land line are routinely left out of supposedly-scientific polls that are used by many polling operations. This poll, by comparison, measured the opinions of those who watched the debate, decided to vote, and had cell phone technology and skill. The results show that, when approached and encouraged to participate, mobile voters enthusiastically respond.

The LaMarche campaign is thrilled by the active participation of Maine voters, both young and old alike. Based on the high volume of traffic on www.pat2006.com, word on the street, and now this cell phone poll, Pat LaMarche is on course to be the next governor of Maine.

Send Us Your Photos and Stories

All this week, Pat's web team will be featuring student supporters on her website, so send a photo of yourself (either headshot or doing something to help Pat's campaign) along with a few words about why you support Pat (former students are also welcome to join in).

Featured Volunteer: Abby Ingalls

September 14, 2006: Like many Mainers, Abby has been faced with tough choices because of the high cost of health insurance. She had to leave a small business and a job she loved for a position outside of her field because it came with medical benefits. Abby's roots in Maine go back generations. She loves the beach and loves to ski. When she's not out with the field crew, she pitches in around the Portland Campaign Office.   read more

He volunteered for the campaign way back when it was beginning, and had the computer skills needed to keep everything together. When he said that he used text messaging more than email, Pat and her staff decided to use texting to reach out to students and young voters during the campaign.   read more
